Chivilev, was acknowledged even by excessive. According to him, “the Heir of Grand Duke Nicholas Alexandrovich was smart, capable to work thoughts and sympathized with all its highest interests, but was too soft heart.” This softness of the heart joined at the Heir with a weak Constitution, which faces surrounding him, and the Emperor himself, did not notice. The Emperor thought that his son est trop effemine and recommended that it physical exercises that could give him more courage and courage. Incidentally, at the request of the Sovereign, the Heir to the throne was adopted in 1860 and participated in the race on the racetrack in Tsarskoye Selo, which was for him the fatal meaning: the great Prince fell off a horse and hurt my back and bruised place has become since then the focus of all subsequent suffering.

“Tall, slim, beautiful, smart, lively and friendly, he was able to charm and bind itself to all who came to him. All the surrounding atmosphere breathed some intimate and sublime order.”

Litvinov relating to the time, the crown Prince writes: “I experienced Good moments and sincerely thank God that I had found what I wished about for so long dreamed of: to love and be loved”. For many of the curious features of the then sentiments of the crown Prince give his letter to his brother, Grand Duke Alexander Alexandrovich, who, as you know, it was connected by gentle friendship and love. The crown Prince repeatedly told the mother that no one wrote such tender messages as “Sasha”, and may not even be aware who he loves more — “Sasha or Dagmar”. The nice Cathedral. The interior

In nice by that time it was the Russian Church, built in 1859. But Russians in the town were so many, many of them had lived here for a long time and even bought the house so that the old Church could not accommodate all the parishioners.

In 1896, the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna (formerly Princess Dagmar) decided to spend the winter in cap d’ail. She came accompanied by their children, Grand Dukes George and Michael and Grand Duchess Olga. The Empress hoped that the mild climate will help the Grand Duke George, a patient with tuberculosis.
The public through the rector of the Church appealed to the Empress for assistance in the construction of a new Church. The Empress could not like this idea. Thirty years ago here in nice, died, her fiancé, heir to the throne, Grand Duke Nicholas Alexandrovich. Here, in nice, decided her future fate, when later she accepted the proposal of Emperor Alexander III to become his wife.
